Do any of these complaints sound familiar? “Mommy, my tummy hurts!” “Why do I feel so bloated?” “Excuse me (for burping)!” “My stomach is in knots!” “Why am I feeling nauseous again?” “What is in my stomach that does not belong there?”

Occasional upset stomach is something we deal with. However, if you are one of the many people who have gotten to the point of “I’m so tired of these upset stomachs!” then you need to figure out what is causing them. Needless suffering can sometimes become debilitating symptoms that disrupt everyday life.

Many practitioners believe that good health begins in the gut. If this is true, then an upset stomach with unknown causes should be the focus your pursuit of better health.

Your gut is where all the health in the body starts. It is the mainstay of our immune system and many “feel good” neurotransmitters, like serotonin. An upset stomach starts in your upper digestive tract but the pain can radiate throughout the chest, neck, throat, and shoulder blades.

Upset stomachs and GI complaints are among the most common reasons people seek medical care. Symptoms associated with upset stomach include pain, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, gurgling, gas, bloating, indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome and malabsorption.

Some factors that cause upset stomach.
Bad (harmful) bacteria
Parasites and Worms
Yeast Overgrowth (like Candida)
Low Good Bacteria or No Growth on Certain Good Bacteria
Low digestive enzymes
Low Ph

Leaky Gut / malabsorption

Inflammation caused by food intolerance’s

Low Short Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA”s)

Low Fiber

The cause of an upset stomach is not always about finding a “disease”. Improving the environment within your gut maybe the solution. We can help you discover the causes of your upset stomach.

We are here to help you feel better!

leaky gut syndromeLeaky gut is often associated with an inflammation of the gastrointestinal track. This inflammation allows larger than normal molecules to pass through the intestinal walls and into the body. The body recognizes these larger than normal molecules as an invader and sends out antibodies to attack the invader. The problem is that this invader is actually just a large piece of food. The antibodies that were created now indiscriminately attack anything that resembles this food. This reflects the beginning of autoimmune disease.

To understand leaky gut syndrome, you must first understand the basics of the gastrointestinal system. The gastrointestinal tract is composed of a single continuous layer of cells. This single layer of cells plays a critical role as a barrier that prevents environmental agents crossing into the body. This barrier is supported by secreted products such as immunoglobulin, mucous and other antimicrobial products. When the system begins to break down, inflammation of the intestinal track quickly begins. And this inflammation leads to gaps that allow environmental agents to enter the body and the blood stream triggering an (auto) immune response.

It is recommended that anyone who is experiencing any of these symptoms be tested for leaky gut syndrome, before it has a chance to become autoimmune disease.

  • gas bloating diarrhea or the symptoms of irritable bowel [IBS]
  • allergies or asthma
  • hormonal imbalances such as PMS or PCOS
  • a diagnosis of any of the autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, Hashimoto’s, lupus, psoriasis, or Celiac disease
  • a diagnosis of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia
  • move or emotional issues such as depression, anxiety, ADD or ADHD
  • skin issues such as acne, rosacea, or eczema
  • food allergies or food intolerance’s

Ulcerative ColitisUlcerative colitis is a chronic disease of the large intestine. The lining of the large intestine becomes inflamed, and develops open sores known as ulcers. This inflammation and ulceration produces abdominal discomfort, along with loose bowel movements, blood in the stools, and a more urgent need to empty the bowels. The symptoms of ulcerative colitis will tend to come and go. There can be fairly long periods between flareups. The person may think that it was just a minor infection and that they’re over it.

When dealing with ulcerative colitis, a major concern is malnutrition. When symptoms are flared up, the person may not feel like eating and weight loss can occur. Malnutrition then lessens the body’s ability to heal itself and thus a self -destructive cycle has begun. Quickly determining the root cause of the flare ups and symptoms is crucial.

Figuring out the cause of ulcerative colitis is important whether the sufferer is a child or an adult. Some people have traveled to remote areas of the world and picked up a pathogen that their body had never before been exposed to. Others are auto immune challenged and suffer from leaky gut and poor levels of friendly bacteria in their intestinal environment. And then some people have symptoms begin after eating a meal that was undercooked.

At Nutritionally Yours, we believe the best way to get to the root cause of symptoms is to do a comprehensive stool test through one of our labs like Doctor’s Data. At Doctor’s Data Labs, they use MALDI-TOF technology (Matrix- Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time of Flight) ) Mass Spectrometry as a proteomic method of identifying bacteria and yeast in stool culture. This spectra is then individually compared to a reference database for verification and identification. Doctor’s Data utilizes MALDI-TOF in combination with “high-complexity” culture for rapid, accurate and reliable identification of hundreds of gastrointestinal bacterial and yeast species, and even subspecies. It has been the experience of Nutritionally Yours that when we work with this lab we are able to identify pathogens that have not showed up in other types of tests.

All of the testing done through gastrointestinaltest.com and our clinic is done by nationally certified labs so you are assured the results are accurate. Test results are reviewed by our practitioners, who will then provide you with a personal “natural” protocol so you can know what is needed to support better health and wellness. You can also take your test results to your local medical doctor. Nutritionally Yours is here to support you and help you overcome these symptoms and get on with your life.

The term inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) describes a group of disorders in which the intestines become inflamed. When there is severe inflammation, the disease is considered active and the person experiences a flare-up of symptoms. When there is less or no inflammation, the person usually is without symptoms and the disease is said to be in remission.

GI TractThere are substances that can cause inflammation that leads to IBD and other bowel inflammatory symptoms. These inflammatory substances can be part of our everyday food. You can read about food and inflammation on foodallergytest.org.

Another group of substances that can cause inflammation to the Gastrointestinal (GI) tract are pathogens. It is very important to identify if there is a pathogen or any welcomed guest in your GI tract. Traditional testing may miss pathogens. More thorough testing is sometimes needed. Pathogens can cause a multitude of GI tract symptoms. More about testing for the causes of Gastrointestinal inflammation can be found here: gastrointestinaltest.com.

At Nutritionally Yours, we have spent many years working with laboratories to design the best testing for our clients. The labs we recommend are Doctor’s Data (https://www.doctorsdata.com/) and Genova Diagnostics. (https://www.gdx.net/) You can read more about these two labs on their websites.

Testing for inflammation in the GI Tract can be done through our clinic. The Doctor’s Data test is the Comprehensive Stool Analysis with Parasitology x3. And the Genova test is also called a “Comprehensive Stool Analysis – Genova” . You can read about stool testing on our full, online store. http://www.nutritionallyyours.net/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65

Pathogens like yeast, parasites, worms, bacteria can lead to Inflammation in the GI Tract. With your stool test results, you will receive an herbal protocol based on your results. There will also be medication suggested and you should show that to your medical doctor. If you wish to come in and see our MD just let us know.

No one has to needlessly suffer with IBD symptoms. We all have busy lives and need to be able to live life to the fullest!

All of Nutritionally Yours testing is done by nationally certified labs so you are assured the accuracy of the results.

Yeast: Understanding the InteractionIt has been very well documented by the medical community that our bodies have a symbiotic relationship with many bacteria, fungi (yeast) and other microbes. Many of these microbes reside in our gut and are essential for our digestion and well-being. Others reside on the surface of your skin, inside your mouth, your nose, your genitalia, urinary tract, and pretty much everywhere in your body. This is a symbiotic relationship because these microbes need a host on which to survive and we need them also. Good microbes help protect us from harmful microbes getting in and hurting our health.

Although these microbes are necessary for our survival and beneficial to us, there can come a time when there is an imbalance in the good to bad bacteria or yeast population and an overgrowth can occur.

For example a yeast overgrowth sometimes occurs when we have used too many antibiotics. Antiobiotics may be needed from time to time, however, antibiotics are indiscriminate and can kill good bacteria as well as bad bacteria. Other times a yeast overgrowth occurs when we eat too much sugar, breads, pasta and starches. Sugars and starches can affect the alkalinity of our bodies thereby creating a environment that is more suitable for some bad bacteria, yeast like candida and microbes to grow and less suitable for the good ones we want to keep.

Yeast Overgrowth: When yeast overgrowth occurs chronic poor health symptoms can begin to take over your body and effect your life. Yeast overgrowth symptoms may be fatigue, gas and bloating, anal itching, diarrhea or constipation, inflammation, pain, poor digestion, brain fog, frequent illness, yeast infections, frequent UTI’s, mood swings, irritability, sinus congestion, low libido. sensitivity to food and chemicals, skin eruptions, autism, sugar and carb cravings, toenail fungus, skin fungus, acne, depression, heavy body feeling and more.

One Bad Yeast Microbe is Called Candida
Candida albicans is a type of yeast which is present in small amounts in the body. It mostly effects the vaginal area (vaginal candida), the mouth (oral candida) and the Gastrointestinal tract. But when it spreads it can effect your entire body and how you feel.

Yeast / Candida Stool Testing
One way to identify if there is a Yeast or Candida overgrowth in your body is by doing stool testing.
Our stool testing kit will show a +1 (mild) level all the way up to a +5 (severe) level of yeast. It will also indicate if the yeast is candida albicans or another type of yeast.

At Nutritionally Yours Health Solutions we have seen so many people come in with all sorts of symptoms and the root cause is yeast or candida. Yeast grows in their body naturally and is kept in-check by other good microbes and other factors within the body. However when the yeast grows out of control and Candida tries to take over, a whole bunch of annoying symptoms can occur. Yeast / Candida is easy to identify and easy to reduce in the body given the right diet and nutrients. We have seen people of all ages (birth to elderly) suffering needlessly from Yeast / Candida overgrowth. It is truly amazing when you improve the health of the gut by removing the yeast overgrowth, how symptoms start to go away and people start feeling normal again.

Our head practitioner and our medical doctor will review all stool testing kits for yeast and candida. We will also provide you with a personal protocol to help you achieve better overall health and wellness.
